Defining my Research

I feel like all my thoughts are mush but putting them out here may make them make a little more sense. 

My main idea for my inquiry topic is based around 'keeping performances fresh on tour' (with the context of 'children's theatre' being more specifically linked to my practice).

As I have been on a long children's theatre tour, I have personal experiences that I can bring to this area. Equally, this research will enhance my practice as I will be on tour for the next year in the same show, so understanding tools that other performers have used in similar situations and reading literature around the topic will add to my own tour toolbox. 

Key areas of research:
- Cast relationships
- 'Surviving' on stage
- Creative restraints of commercial theatre 
- Problem solving/flexibility 
- Finding energy (ego, adrenaline, perfectionism..?)
- Sustaining vocal and physical heath

Possible Questions:
- The importance of healthy cast/crew relationships for onstage performances
- The effect adrenaline has on performance energy
- Solutions to boredom on stage due to creative limitations

Workshop with Michael Cleg  (22/03/2021) Reflection allows us to learn from our experiences and be better prepared for similar situations in the future. We started the session by discussing Free Writing, which is when you write for 5 minutes on a topic without stopping. This gives you a chance to collect your thoughts and notice patterns, as well as eliminating the problem of 'internal censorship' which sometimes blocks one's ability to write.  We practiced this by writing for 5 minutes about a recent learning experience. I found it hard not to judge the quality of my writing but, towards the end, did manage to get into the flow. What I notice from reading back my ramblings is that I had a strong sense of how I felt about my learning experience, whereas it normally takes me a long time to articulate feelings in the 'right way'.
