Little Wonders

Module 2 Focus with Helen Kindred  (20/09/2021) I was a bit nervous coming into this session as I wasn't able to attend the welcome calls last week, so I thought I might have been a bit overwhelmed. However, I was so pleasantly surprised to find the call extremely helpful and motivational! Helen began by explaining the term ' Little Wonders ' as areas you are curious about that will help to determine your research project. We then went round and all introduced our initial ideas for an inquiry. Helen helped us to define a few key pockets of research that will help start us off in our reading. For me, we landed on: - relationships (particularly between performers on tour) - professional ethics - keeping repeated performances new/fresh - finding energy When choosing an inquiry title, we need to remember to keep them open and fluid - we're not looking for answers, we're looking to explore. ~ I will think more on these and make a more detailed post about my ideas later t...

Module 2!

We're back!  I thought I'd be a lot more scared to start Module 2 but, reading through the handbook reminds me of how much more I understand now than I did back in February last year. Yes, the work will probably be harder, but I don't have to overcome the same hurdles as before. Like.. understanding referencing or finding my way around unihub. So, I feel good. Not sure how I'll feel in a few weeks when I start working full time again and have to juggle performing with study, but we'll see when we get to it. Here are some of the things I need to remember when things start to get stressful: - Re-read the handbook (particularly the pages where it tells you what coursework needs to be submitted. When it all feels like too much and you're getting dragged into reading that feels wordy and unlinked, it's helpful to focus in and remind yourself what exactly it is you need to hand in.) - Blog every week (even if you don't manage anything else, make a blog post ab...
